'The Exorcist' will go down in history as one of the strongest horror film drama's ever created. The 1973 film print is hard to find, as they now have circulating a 2000 updated print in which a few scenes were added. Deplorable and unnecessary scenes that hurt the story , such as an added dialogue at the end of the film. The film is perfectly cast and sells the viewer with a new form of realism. The film gets better with age... But new prints and edits don't. That's what hurt 'Star Wars' and 'E.T.' when they re-released those two with added CGI and scenes like E.T. taking a bath! If you ever wondered on the value that VHS tapes have today, it is simply regarding this matter - VHS releases are basically the Only archived format available to experience original cuts and releases of many cult classics. Keep in mind that the more you watch VHS, the more you degrade the magnetic tape and leave it vulnerable to 'drop-outs' and other such things. But these such things are what end up making the viewing far more special. There is not much difference between the film pop scratch and the video drop-out as both are exceptionally 'honest' with their run down rhetoric expression. Bye.
