So I went and saw the new Sean Baker film 'Red Rocket' and have concluded that Baker is not a great filmmaker at all, and all that he does over and over again is re-interpret his boring idea of what 'poor white trash' America feels like to him, inside of his head while he sleeps on the couch of his parents home saving money for his next movie. He packages these things (his movies) into a clever marketing perfume that seduces our longing for the now extinct 90's independent 16mm cinema that Tarantino gleefully murdered back when he cast John Travolta in Pulp Fiction.

'Red Rocket' on a Jane grade scale of 1-10, gets a 4. That's a failing grade. bye.

Who Can It Be Now ?

weird thing ALERT- I'm now enjoying playing drums along to Men At Work albums while inserting double-bass blast beats between verses. I wonder if the oddity of the bass drum blast beats is kin to that lazy eye that band's lead singer loved to randomly showcase in many of his MTV music videos. Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmm. bye.

If there's something strange
In your neighborhood
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

If there's something weird
And it don't look good
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

I ain't 'fraid of no ghost
I ain't 'fraid of no ghost

If you're seeing things
Running through your head
Who can you call?
Ghostbusters!

An invisible man
Sleepin' in your bed
Ow, who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

I ain't 'fraid of no ghost
I ain't 'fraid of no ghost

Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

If you're all alone
Pick up the phone
And call
Ghostbusters!

I ain't 'fraid of no ghost
Ooh, I hear it likes the girls
Hm, I ain't 'fraid of no ghost
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!

Mmm, if you've had a dose of a
Freaky ghost, baby
You better call
Ghostbusters!
Ow!

Lemme tell ya something
Bustin' makes me feel good!

I ain't 'fraid of no ghost
I ain't 'fraid of no ghost

Don't get caught alone oh, no
Ghostbusters!
When it comes through your door
Unless you just a-want some more
I think you better call
Ghostbusters!

Ow! Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Uh, think you better call
Ghostbusters!
Ha ha, who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
I can't hear you

Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Louder
Ghostbusters!
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Who can you call?
Ghostbusters!
Who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
Uh, it likes the girls too
Ghostbusters!

The 'Queen of Punk' gets awarded key to NYC!!!

I was dreaming in my dreaming
Of an aspect bright and fair
And my sleeping it was broken
But my dream it lingered near
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
That the people have the power
To redeem the work of fools
From the meek the graces shower
It's decreed the people rule
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
Vengeful aspects became suspect
And bending low as if to hear
And the armies ceased advancing
Because the people had their ear
And the shepherds and the soldiers
And they lay among the stars
Exchanging visions
And laying arms
To waste in the dust
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
Where there were deserts
I saw fountains
Like cream the waters rise
And we strolled there together
With none to laugh or criticize
And the leopard
And the lamb
Lay together truly bound
I was hoping in my hoping
To recall what I had found
I was dreaming in my dreaming
God knows a purer view
As I lay down to my sleeping
I commit my dream to you
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
The power to dream to rule
To wrestle the earth from fools
It's decreed the people rule
It's decreed the people rule
I believe everything we dream
Can come to pass through our union
We can turn the world around
We can turn the earth's revolution
We have the power
People have the power
People have the power
People have the power
The power to dream to rule
To wrestle the earth from fools
It's decreed the people rule
It's decreed the people rule
We have the power
We have the power
The people have the power
We have the power
bye.

Wolfie got a Grammy award nomination!

So Wolfie (Wolfgang Van Halen) just got his song 'DISTANCE' that he wrote about his Dad nominated for a Grammy! The song is not only heartbreaking and rock solid, but the phone message he plays at the end of the music video (play it above!) kinda says it all about their relationship as father and son. Wolfie is so lucky to have had a father who loved him so much. So damn lucky. That love was- and will -be enough to keep him well in this crazy thing called Life. What makes things even crazier, Val (Valerie Bertinelli) just announced that she is divorcing her husband now, surely based on the impact the death of the true 'love of her life', Eddie, has had on her. Cancer kills and sometimes rebuilds. bye.

Tis' the Season...

Actress Barbara Hershey looks a lot like my beloved mother in this movie, 'The Entity'. So, gonna watch the movie again (with the Director's Commentary on) and remember her glowing beauty and empath spirit.

                                                                                  bye.

Amazing read and find on the hx of Made-for-TV films.

 https://headpress.com/product/are-you-in-the-house-alone/

So weird to be reading this today, as I watched the Burton film, 'ED WOOD' last night, a movie that depicts the passionate yet cursed 'worst filmmaker of all time'. Ed Wood would have thrived as a Made-For-TV director for the 3 major TV networks (ABC, NBC and CBS) making his stuff. Just like the TV movie gems of the late 70's and 80's that are covered in this book, you can now hunt and watch on YouTube (or by ordering from DVDLADY.COM), Wood's unique vision of storytelling just by the sheer click of your mouse to a WiFi connection. Life is good. RIP ED, you died way too young :(  bye

Glen Cinema Memorial Sculpture-- Unveiled! (Glasgow)

https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/19752829.glen-cinema-memorial-officially-unveiled-paisley/

I went there briefly yesterday to present and in the 40 or so minutes I was there 3 people came up to the sculpture and started telling me stories of how their own family members were involved in the tragedy. One man told me how his mother collapsed in the Glen Cinema crush and would have died if not for someone standing on her face. The pain of it brought her round and she managed to get to her feet and escape, although he said "she had no cheekbones" all of her life as a result. She literally carried the tragedy on her face all her life. There are so many stories as it affected nearly 700 children. Even those who survived uninjured were traumatised. I just discovered today that there's a 99 year old woman who survived it, but has never come forward as she can't speak about it - it's so painful. I gave a speech at the unveiling. It's amazing seeing just how the artwork brings people together and they all start talking about their relation to the disaster in front of it. Some people just start crying.

bye...

Hi & Bye, UK and to all Glen Cinema local residents

True Blue

Hey
What
Listen
I've had other glasses
I've looked into their eyes
But I never knew love before
'Til you glasses walked through my door
I've had other lips
I've sailed a thousand ships
But no matter where I go
You're the one for me, baby, this I know
'Cause it's
True love
You're the one I'm dreaming of
Your heart fits me like a fingerless glove
And I'm gonna be true blue, baby, I love you
I've heard all the lines
I've cried, oh-so many times
Those tear drops they won't fall again
I'm so excited 'cause you're my best friend
So if you should ever doubt
Wonder what love is all about
Just think back and remember, dear
Those words whispered in your ear, I said
True love
You're the one I'm dreaming of
Your heart fits me like a fingerless glove
And I'm gonna be true blue, baby, I love you
'Cause it's
True love (This time I know it's true love)
You're the blue glasses I'm dreaming of (The one I'm dreaming of)
Your heart fits me like a glove (Heart fits just like a fingerless glove)
And I'm gonna be true blue, baby, I love you
No more sadness, I kiss it goodbye
The sun is bursting right out of the sky
I searched the whole world for someone like you
Don't you know, don't you know that it's
True love, oh baby, true love, oh baby
True love, oh baby, true love
It's true love, oh baby, true love, oh baby
True love, oh baby, true love
It's true, so if you should ever doubt
Wonder what love is all about
Just think back and remember dear
Those words whispered in your ear, I said
No more sadness, I kiss it goodbye
The sun is bursting right out of the sky
I searched the whole world for someone like you
Don't you know, don't you know that it's
True love (This time I know it's true love)
You're the one I'm dreaming of (The one I'm dreaming of)
Your heart fits me like a glove (Heart fits just like a glove)
And I'm gonna be true blue, baby, I love you
I love you
This time I know it's true love (Love, love, love)
You're the one I'm dreaming of (Love, love, love)
Your heart fits just like a glove
And I'm gonna be true blue, baby, I love you
'Cause it's
True love, oh baby, true love, oh baby
True love, oh baby, true love
It's, true love, oh baby, true love, oh baby
True love, oh baby, true love
It's true love baby
(Love, love, love)
True love, true love

Joey Huertas w/ Patty McCormack aka Rhoda Penmark .

Copyright, 2021.

So interesting to talk with Patty on how she was directed by Mervyn LeRoy for her masterpiece performance in the film, THE BAD SEED. She basically said that she was way too young to comprehend the debate going on regarding 'nature vs nuture' in the psychiatric field, so she was told to very selfishly want 'things', to feel smarter than all of the adults in the room and deem them epically stupid, and to love her father deeply. Patty has gone on to act in films like 'Nixon/Frost' and 'The Master', but has spent most of her career dealing with the aftermath of her frighteningly believable performance as, Rhoda Penmark. Since Patty is a native New Yorker (Brooklyn native), she explains that she feels playing Rhoda was a 'piece of cake'. Patty is one of the sharpest and warmest people that I have ever known in my life, and I still find it hard to believe that she's spent a lifetime navigating the mean, self-centered, cold-blooded, cut throat, industry that is the - entertainment industry. Well actually, now that I think of it, it makes total sense that she can handle the business so easily. Like Rhoda would have...Easy peasy. She's a New Yawka!

bye.
