Less is more.

So I took a walk around Alphabet City this afternoon and observed a young film crew all gung ho with a few RED cameras (RED Cameras cost around $80,000 each) and a ridiculous amount of hi-tech technology and its just all so fuc*in' dumb and unnecessary. I was immediately reminded of why and how Nirvana and Kurt Cobain got so huge, so fast. Less was More, and Kurt Cobain understood that. Cobain disregarded all the expensive high end guitar modules and keyboards so many bands were using and stripped his music down to just a simple raw guitar, tube amp and two other simple musicians - making sure it was the SONG that mattered and NOT all the expensive crap all the metal and rock bands were using at that time, Nirvana killed the music scene when NEVERMIND was released because people wanted something REAL, UNVARNISHED, PURE, and FREE. Anyways, I personally sold my fancy 4k camera a few years ago because I HATED how perfect everything looked, and how there was no room for error or mistakes. I now stick with a very small camera that gets me beautiful shots with a simple battery that dies on me every 10 minutes. And, I would not change one thing about it. Gosh, even war photojournalists keep things simple and sweet, and focus on getting a great shot, and not carrying around almost $100,000 cameras. Makes me kinda sick. And what makes matters even more sickening, is that I bet you they will use some fake-ass software to degrade the image during editing and try to mimic what a cheaper camera would have provided.  Lord Have Mercy on them.  bye.

Playing with Sharks: The Valerie Taylor Story

I really enjoyed the new documentary about the life and aquatic career of Valerie Taylor. Valerie's passion and dedication reminded me of Jane Goodall and especially Leni Reifenstahl (infamous Third Reich female film artist who spent her last years of life blacklisted and filming underwater). It's so interesting that Valerie managed to go from animal hunter to animal savior and subsequently petitioned the government to have a portion of the sea protected as a national park (The Neptune Islands Group Marine Park on South Australia's West Coast)

If you like underwater photography, shark docs or just a great life story, this documentary is great and can be seen on Disney Plus. I also learned about another documentary film Valerie appeared in in the early 70's titled 'BLUE WATER, WHITE DEATH' that was the inspiration for Peter Benchley's Best Selling novel, 'JAWS.' It's a hard film to find, but thatz(sic) why God has given to us EBAY.COM (meaning I already placed my DVD order). Shark cage diving is on my bucket list and I shall plan my trip to visit the west coast of Australia, Neptune Islands very soon. I can shark cage dive and visit Heath Ledger's memorial place located in Perth all in one shot. Can't wait to take a bite outta that coming trip. bye.

ch ch ch, ah ah ah and morning coffee thoughts.

Sometimes simpler is better. The iconic 'Jaws' film theme song used just two notes to set an ominous tone, and the equally iconic sound effects in the 'Friday the 13th' films used two syllables to make the killer’s presence known. The spelling of those two syllables has become a hotly contested issue among diehard films of the franchise. Most people have been repeating it as ch ch ch, ah ah ah for years, and it’s hard to hear it any other way. However, the film’s composer, Harry Manfredini, has set the record straight in many  interviews. In 2015, he stated that the sounds are actually ki and ma. Inspired by the consonant-heavy Polish scores he was studying at the time, Manfredini decided to reduce the words kill and mommy down to two syllables. These words were taken directly from a scene in the original 1980 film in which Pamela Voorhees, played by Betsy Palmer, says “Kill her, mommy!” in Jason’s voice. Manfredini said the scene stuck out as a “creepy shot” and also conveyed the important idea that she was hearing voices at all times. To create the sound effect, Manfredini whispered the two syllables into a microphone and then fed them through an Echoplex Machine (see below), “which was really cool back then,” he said. The reverb distorted the sounds, which is perhaps why people hear the syllables a little differently.                                                                         bye.

Happy Birthday USA ! - No More Facemasks 2021!

FIREWORK (lyrics)
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving Jane in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in Jane
Jane just gotta ignite the light, and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
'Cause, Janey, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Janey, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only

        bye.

Can't stay at home, can't stay at school
Old folks say, "You poor little fool"
Down the streets I'm the Jane next door
I'm the fox you've been waiting for
Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild girl
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Stone age love and strange sounds too
Come on, baby, let me get to you
Bad nights causing teenage blues
Get down Janey's, you've got nothin' to lose
Hello, Janey, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild Jane
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello, daddy, hello, mom
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb
Hello world I'm your wild Janey
I'm your ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb

Jane Trivia News Brief: I love going to live shows as a way of studying various drummers set-ups, using military binoculars. In this show alone, I noted a new cymbal stand clamp i-Phone holder that is being used by some drummer's in order to have quick and easy access to one's smartphone. This is the perfect solution for when I practice at home to songs being played from my iTunes music library iPhone playlist.
