'By The Sea' is a wannabe L'Avventura meets Rear Window, but with too much agenda and pretention to pull it off. If Jolie had set her film (and I really want to call this a movie) in a location like an American FOXWOODS resort instead of the south of France (Malta to be exact), it may have functioned better (capitalize M for may). That said, the french cast all performed very naturally and are superb in their forced minimalism. The film is total crap. And the sea vistas are pretty, sure, but so are the chlorine pools at FOXWOODS. . .
Comparisons to Madonna's flop 'SWEPT AWAY' are credible. bye.
