The play is a monologue-driven two-hander about a wealthy man who has recently purchased a plane and is looking to start a new life with his young fiancee, until a phone call puts a glitch in his plans.

CHINA DOLL's opening night was better than expected and way timely as the next presidential election campaign plows forward with enough corruption and scandal to juice up Dave Mamet's next masterpiece. Al was as phenomenal as ever tonight, and looking great at 77. One awesome night. No lavalier miking or dialogue amplification, no high-tech lighting nonsense. Just very raw and classic theatre and set design at its best. Classic David Mamet in every friggin' way.
Regarding the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre has an interesting history. On May 9th, 2005 the Plymouth Theatre was officially renamed after Gerald Schoenfeld, the legendary chairman of the Shubert Organization from 1972 until his death in 2008.
