In 2001, I went to the Cinema Village theatre on a weeknight ( I think it was on a Thursday ) and got a seat in an essentially empty tiny arthouse movie theatre. Essentially is the key here, because the only person/s there in the dingy theatre was an old retired man who opted to sit right next to me- it was Ed Koch the ex-mayor of NYC and his morbidly obese bodyguard. The film we were there to see was a wanna-be indie vampire film titled, 'The Forsaken.' The film was crap (despite its awesome desert moodiness and special effects), but Ed was so cool and real. Halfway through the movie Ed fell asleep and snored. The point of all of this is that upon seeing this trailer today, I was reminded of that evening and just how impressed that I was on how passionate he was about cinema and independent films. He told me, 'Joey, I watch them all. Crap or not, I give em all a shot." Ed was so cool. He inspired me that night. And he also unintentionally made me glad that I don't fall asleep during movies and snore like he does. R.I.P. Ed. This film did you justice. bye.
