Gena finally gets her deserved Oscar at 85, Saturday.

Gena Rowlands, one of our greatest living screen actresses finally receives her long-overdue Academy Award that has eluded her for over half a century. This Saturday, 85 year old icon Gena will receive an Honorary Oscar at the Academy's annual Governors's Awards ceremony, at long last resolving one of the gravest injustices in the history of American cinema. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science organization can salute up to four people each year, with the option of several honorary Oscars. The Governors Awards is an untelevised ceremony that has begun as an experiment. The Academy rules say the Governors Award cannot be voted posthumously, and no current governor is eligible. bye.
