Regarding a NETWORK of 1976

Chayefsy's prophetic vision of television's future included draconian corporate oversight, evaporating audience share, dumbed-down escapist fare and shows starring real people. In place of "newscasters," he saw bombastic, editorializing, divisive, larger-than-life personalities. And Jane felt deja vu.

In 2000, the film was selected for preservation  in the United States National Film Registry by the The Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Oh My Gawd (i.e. OMG).
