Happy Human Rights Day !

Today is Human Rights Day, and Jane Public Inc. wants to recognize all those who have helped us to achieve. We reflect on the legacy of Nelson Mandela and his profound importance to the global human rights movement, a movement to which you are central. Your support for general Human Rights and vigilance against national corruption continues the fight for justice and shows your commitment to the defense of human rights around the world.

As the Empire State Building glows blue tonight to honor Human Rights Day, we wanted to take a moment to share a few stories of the incredible work accomplished in 2013 -

Canada’s parliament created a special committee to investigate police corruption and an documented abusive police force, and also violence against indigenous women. These people had nowhere to turn. We followed their stories.

After years of negotiations, a landmark international treaty controlling mercury use was formally adopted in October of this year. This treaty will protect 10 to 15 million gold miners worldwide, many of them children, who are exposed to this dangerous chemical every day. Human Rights pioneers researched, sought and documented the effects of mercury on children in Mali and Papua New Guinea and made recommendations that were included in the treaty.

Fight the corrupt. Happy Human Rights Day.

Sincerely,
Jane Public, et al.
