Hope in explosive (literally) celluloid propaganda and cinema as averitable social experience - 'Jud Suss'

“We shall go down in history as the greatest statesmen of all time, or as the greatest criminals”
― Joseph Goebbels

Right when you had assumed that the movie-going experience of 35mm film had been deemed extinct, along comes biting at you, Mr. 'Jud Suss.' Pure and despicable classic propaganda German cinema that always seems to throw Mr. Adolph Hitler 'under the bus' when confronted with accusations of complicity towards 'crimes against humanity' regarding its hidden narrative motivations (Jane Public is still unsure how Leni R. got off scot-free after 'Triumph Of The Will', despite the obvious blacklisting that she endured as a film artist. That ugly 'scuba diver photographer' that she became). "Hitler Made Me Do It" is still the prevalent theme here at this propaganda revival. BTW- A special, and personally directed, 'Thank You' goes to the one and only, Richard Brody (New Yorker Magazine editor) for his special public introduction. Unfortunately Mr. Brody had to leave and return back to work immediately after his heartfelt and passionate introductory speech to the film :(  Mr. Brody's devotion to the craft and art of cinema marks him as a permanent icon to this transcendent fine art form that we once called, projected film. Brody is currently working on a book about the iconic jump-cut film artist, Jean Luc Godard

JUD SÜSS (Translated- Suss, the Jew) is arguably the most notorious example of Nazi feature film propaganda, commissioned by Joseph Goebbels and deemed mandatory viewing for SS members and concentration camp guards by Heinrich Himmler. Set in the 18th century and unfolding like a historical costume melodrama, JUD SÜSS portrays a Jewish businessman, Süss Oppenheimer, as ambitious and conniving as he snares a post as treasurer to the Duke of Wurttemburg by showering the vain and corrupt duke with jewels and promises of even greater riches. Rarely shown publicly since WWII due to its brazen anti-Semitism (screenings were banned in Germany, and many other countries, beginning in 1945), JUD SÜSS was the most successful German film of its year.

In 1949, director Veit Harlan was tried for crimes against humanity for his direction of this film.. .

    Bye.
p.s. Jane Public sat literally sitting next to Marty Scorcese and Marty had 'ants in his pants' the entire screening to the point where at the last 20 minutes he had to shoot out of the theatre! Love you Marty, but you gotsta relax a lil' bit more next time. And yeah, I'll take that part you offered to me during the film's 'intermission' for your nest movie, I just hope you don't lose my telephone numba. bye again.
