Digital projection is still not as beautiful, or reliable, as any celluloid film projection. Bravo for saying some things that most people in the business would not want to be quoted saying. While 35mm may be a thing of the past for presentation, it's still the most beautiful medium on which to capture images, and the safest medium on which to store one's images for long term preservation and retrieval. We've had film for 125 years, and digital for only 20 or so. For anyone to say that digital can be relied upon for preservation would only be an opinion, and not something based on experience.
Only time will tell what digital formats and media will survive. It's not a matter of opinion. The demise of the local mom and pop privately owned local theatre house has long been a confirmed and attended funeral service. I went to the service. I brought an aluminum pan of stale JIFFY POP to spite the event. bye.

Breaking (pasta)bread with Judas ?

This is what an administrative annual 'social work appreciation day' budgetary-cut luncheon looks like. Lord Have Mercy on us all, at least they gave us butter. You(meaning I) actually had to pay for your own meal before being recognized for the great service that you had provided those in need. So, Jane stuffed himself. Like a pig. Like a pig in heat.  bye

P.S. And Jane burped too. Why? Just for the sheer Hell of it.

TIME TO CLEAN UP THAT STENCH ON RIKERS ISLAND

R.I.P. James and Matt (Bronx Doc Center)

R.I.P. James Rebhorn. You were a great guy. You rode that 6 train to auditions even when you coulda/shoulda hailed a cab.

R.I.P. Matthew Power. You died while on assignment and I'm not surprised. You brought the documentary community together in a part of The Bronx that had nothing/ no one really left to look up to.

Bye, to both of these friends.

LENA BAKER 'radio interview' with Connie Winston

LENA BAKER radio interview with lead actress Connie Winston (Law and Order, Harriet Tubman) about the upcoming expanded cinema performance titled, "On Griffin Alley." Broadcast interview on the Sheila Ingram Show.

Death sentences and executions for female offenders are rare in comparison to such events for male offenders. Women are more likely to drop out of the death-penalty system the further it progresses. Lena Baker in 1944 was not as lucky.
Stats for women and the death penalty in the U.S. -
* women account for about 1 in 10 (10%) murder arrests;
* women account for 1 in 50 (2.1%) death sentences imposed at the trial level;
* women account for 1 in 67 (1.8%) persons presently on death row; and
* women account for 1 in 100 (.9%) persons actually executed in the modern era...

On Griffin Alley is a re-imagining of the trial of Lena Baker, a 44-year old Black American female who was convicted of killing Ernest B. Knight, her 56-year old white male employer with whom she also was engaged in an illicit love affair in Jim Crow Cuthbert, Georgia. Baker became the first and only woman to ever be electrocuted in the State of Georgia.

The year was 1944. Baker’s trial lasted for less than one full day, and her jury was comprised of twelve white males. The trial transcript is approximately ten pages long.

On Griffin Alley is an interdisciplinary experiment, fusing theatre and expanded cinema techniques. The goal is not to have a “clean, finished product,” but rather, it is an exploration of the process of the work, which subsequently becomes the work. Through the use of found artifacts, archival film footage, and sound design we hope to create a new language of performance.

Starring Connie Winston and Joey Huertas.
