Glen Cinema Memorial Sculpture-- Unveiled! (Glasgow)

I went there briefly yesterday to present and in the 40 or so minutes I was there 3 people came up to the sculpture and started telling me stories of how their own family members were involved in the tragedy. One man told me how his mother collapsed in the Glen Cinema crush and would have died if not for someone standing on her face. The pain of it brought her round and she managed to get to her feet and escape, although he said "she had no cheekbones" all of her life as a result. She literally carried the tragedy on her face all her life. There are so many stories as it affected nearly 700 children. Even those who survived uninjured were traumatised. I just discovered today that there's a 99 year old woman who survived it, but has never come forward as she can't speak about it - it's so painful. I gave a speech at the unveiling. It's amazing seeing just how the artwork brings people together and they all start talking about their relation to the disaster in front of it. Some people just start crying.

bye...

Hi & Bye, UK and to all Glen Cinema local residents
