On location: William Peter Blatty's 'The Exorcist' staircase and the house of Georgetown.

The infamous 75 steps of Georgetown and M Street ! I must say, GAWD DAMN because it was more intense than I expected. Those stairs are no joke! All 75 of 'em. That film has such an amazing opening zoom-lens shot that crosses the river and illustrates the squared architecture of that Georetown family home chosen by the director for the movie (the movie has a lot of very sloppy hand-held camera work too). So great that the film crew and director opted to use all actual Georgetown local pubs, campus yards (a prestigious catholic college campus) and local streets to capture the true ambience  of the peacful and quite little town. The town has a very 'Providence, RI' vibe to it. There is something to be said about suburbia and academia sandwiched together. This movie is Sooooooo Georgetown. Lovely stuff- as long as you don't trip on any concrete staircases. Ouch (or maybe grooowl).bye.p.s. the book was based actual recorded events of a young boy from Georgetown, and used actual State archives collateral records to write his classic novel that later became the legendary film. bye.
