Voices of an imaginary and "objective" democracy

"LIAR ! GO HOME!" were the words that instigated temporary chaos today at the seminar. These words were shouted by a woman who was of Venezuelan descent (Not a Cuban) and who's young son was killed by her government after he had composed a critical article using social media to protest his oppressing government.

"Yoani, why do you have access to a Paypal account and why do Americans still have no universal healthcare! Cuba offers THAT human right! Tell us now how much are you being paid to sell us out! Who exactly financed this trip of yours !?"

Play money was thrown all over the auditorium with Yoani's face printed on the face of the dollar bill.

Ultimately nothing worked to calm this crowd down except Yoani's calm reserve. She allowed (and expected) her Cuban enemies to vent their spleen publicly upon her. Her calm made this indoor hurricane diffuse itself.

Jane noticed that metal detectors, armed officers, 14 body guards, Cuban nationalist flags, cardboard protest posters and a uniformed voice of anti-Capitalism had expressed its furious nature of physical skepticism about this Yoani 80 day Visa tour. They blamed their anger (of course) on their lack of trust of the U.S government. They aimed their anger at Yoani.
"I was incarcerated by Fidel for over 15 years. Do you not find it an interesting coincidence that your fun trip to the U.S. coincides perfectly with the U.S. persecution of Bradley Manning and Julian Assange for doing the exact same thing you are now applauded for? Is social media really a tool for freedom or does it only provide freedom to those who negotiate a price that is right for them!? How much are you being paid to sell us out Yoani Sanchez!  Tell us now. Blog it for the world to see ! Keep us all well informed...pretty little agitator."  bye.
