NYTimes reports UAP congressional hearing & Top Gun
.... So, on another topic related to aerial phenomena- I’m shocked to say that I'm actually looking foward to the new TOP GUN movie coming out this Memorial Day weekend 2022. The early pre-screening critic (non-spoiler) reviews coming in are spectacular and the trailer looks like the visual & editorial craftsmanship is masterful (I’m a very good judge of films based on the trailer tease). I had never seen the original TOP GUN 80's movie, but I do recall a childhood of hearing the Kenny Loggins 'Danger Zone' song and the movie's multi-hit soundtrack 24 hours a day on MTV. I noticed that NETFLIX currently has the original TOP GUN available to stream until May 31st, so I watched it last night and hot damn was it good. Like- I was blown away by the aerial photography and editing - and sadly was reminded that this hit movie was made by director Tony Scott (Ridley Scott's brother, who died by suicide a few years ago by jumping off of a bridge https://www.cnn.com/2012/08/20/showbiz/obit-tony-scott/index.html). Tony's movie is simply an epic popcorn movie compelled by saturated color lush, silly romance and testosterone fueled patriotic fun. I predict that this new TOP GUN is going to reinvigorate the movie-going experience and our post-pandemic cold feet crisis. If you have 90 minutes of spare time before Memorial Day, catch this original Top Gun on NETFLIX for a fun ride in the skies. bye.

Rainy Mother's Days and Sundays.
Talkin' to myself and feelin' old
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Sometimes I'd like to quit
Nothin' ever seems to fit
Hangin' around
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
What I've got they used to call the blues
Nothin' is really wrong
Feelin' like I don't belong
Walkin' around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
Nothin' is really wrong
Feelin' like I don't belong
Walkin' around
Some kind of lonely clown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
Funny, but it seems I always wind up here with you
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me (the one who loves me)
Nice to know somebody loves me
Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do
Run and find the one who loves me (the one who loves me)
What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out (talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
No need to talk it out (talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
Funny, but it seems that it's the only thing to do (only thing to do)
Run and find the one who loves me (ooh)
Run and find the one who loves me (ooh)
What I feel has come and gone before
No need to talk it out (to talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mother's Day always get
Me down
No need to talk it out (to talk it out)
We know what it's all about
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Sundays always get me down
Hangin' around (hangin' around)
Nothin' to do but frown
Rainy days and Mother's Day always get
Me down

A Founding Father: DAVE LOMBARDO
Regarding Lombardo : Lombardo named Bill Ward, Mitch Mitchell, John Bonham, Ian Paice, Ginger Baker and Keith Moon as main influences at early age. He is known for his fast, aggressive style of play utilizing the double bass technique which has earned him the title "the godfather of double bass" by Drummerworld. Lombardo states his reasons for using two bass drums: "when you hit the bass drum the head is still resonating. When you hit it in the same place right after that you kinda get a 'slapback' from the bass drum head hitting the other pedal. You're not letting them breathe." In an interview with Guitar Center in the spring of 2012 he said: "I don't like a double pedal because when the beater hits, I immediately come back with the other pedal. And that head is resonating, which creates a momentum that isn't helpful. It throws me off balance. With two bass drums, I don't have any problems. It's just a feel thing."
I was fortunately able to finally witness/experience the godfather of double bass drumming, Dave Lombardo live at 'The Bay Strikes Back Tour 2022' after a 2 year postponed multi-act Bay Area tour that had been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Above I have posted a small iPhone video clip from the show in which I used military binoculars in order to carefully study Lombardo's technique up close from my seat. Even as he is almost 60 now, his speed and dexterity remains astounding. Like me, he had started his love of playing drums by practicing on pillows and furniture as a child. Lombardo is the shit, a true meister of his instrument. Life is so short and glad I was able to see him while we are both still alive and living. bye. p.s. I noticed via my binoculars that Lombardo has a left lazy eye...that was interesting to see (no pun intended).
bye again.
