So interesting to learn yesterday from Griffin Dunne that all of the archival Super8mm film footage that he used for the documentary that he made about his aunt Joan Didion was snatched up from home movies footage he bumped into while surfing YOUTUBE- footage that actor Roddy McDowell had shot in the 1960's and 70's at Hollywood socials and parties. The 8mm film footage had been scanned and been posted up on YOUTUBE after McDowell's death and that's how Griffin found it, surfing online on a total fluke. Wild.
