'Smells Like' something that has left us.

    bye, kurdt. r.i.p.
p.s. you're not the only one.

ps.s… One of the deceased favorite film's synopsis

Over the Edge(1979)

"Watch Out For The Children"

Over the Edge is a movie completed in 1979 and released on HBO two years later because its controversial content led to a decision to forego a theatrical release. It stars Matt Dillon in his feature film debut.
At the time, the studio thought the movie was too controversial and feared that it would spark violence, which apparently occurred with the film The Warriors(1979).

Because of its depiction of teenage rebellion, marijuana and alcohol use by junior high school students, a painstakingly accurate depiction of suburban life in the late 1970s, and a rock & roll soundtrack featuring such bands as The Ramones and Cheap Trick, Over the Edge has achieved cult film status, and in turn inspired the music video for the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana .

According to the director's and writer's commentary on the DVD, Over the Edge was inspired by actual events that took place in Foster City, California in the early 1970s. Those events were published in an article titled "Mouse Packs: Kids on a Crime Spree" from the San Francisco Examiner (1974). The writer of the article, Charles S. Haas, went on to co-write the screenplay

The film follows a group of teenagers living in a fictional planned community called New Granada, which is isolated beyond other existing suburbs, in the nearly-treeless plains east of Denver, Colorado.
Their needs were not considered by those who designed the community, and so there is nothing for them to do but go to school and hang out at the local recreation center, which closes at six oclock. The kids turn to substance abuse and petty crime as a way to kill their boredom, but their outcry falls on deaf ears, as the adults are too concerned with pursuing wealth and stomping out the seemingly-senseless rowdy behavior to actually understand the reasons why the adolescents are acting up. After one of the kids is shot and killed by a police officer, the youths violently rebel against their parents and the authorities, an uprising that results in fiery mayhem in and around the junior high school.

and sometimes you are just a stupid and stupendous idiot. bye again (even though this is the 1st time). Dummy!  notice the capital 'd'.

so, on another subject moron, why does Rodney Downey Jr. refuse to act in indie films ? …

"Because they're exhausting and sometimes they suck and then you just go, 'What was I thinking?' But I'm interested in doing all different kinds of movies. Sometimes the little movies are the ones that wind up taking the most out of you because they're like, 'Hey, man, we're just running a couple of days behind. Do you think you can stay through your birthday and then come back on the fourth of July. And, by the way, but, like, the crew—can you pay for the craft services? And, oh, by the way, man, when we go to Sundance, it's like, can we just sit you in a chair and you can sell this for six days in a row so that we'll make 180 bucks when it opens in one theater? God, this is so powerful what we're doing. What do you think of the movie? You saw it last night?'"
"I thought it's mediocre."
"Yeah, isn't it the greatest?! Man, everyone's an artist here."
"Actually, most of you are kind of inexperienced and lame."

Off The Hook !

So they were not kiddin'. 'ROAR' was hands down the most insane film I have ever seen. Period. And I have seen a lot of films. Only God above knows how they made that movie and left walking on two legs. Wow. That film was completely bonkers dangerous to make and appears to have captured a bizarre 60's counter culture attitude that reckons a 1980's vacation trip to Africa. Bye.

Legendary cinematographer Jan De Bont was scalped by a lion shooting this film…

The most catastrophic delay in filming Roar occurred in 1978, when a tremendous flood almost demolished the compound and killed three lions. The whole production and property took an entire year to recover.

Visiting Room Bacon Commissary and a $5 DVD visit.

Promotions state: No animals were harmed in the making of this movie. 70 members of the cast and crew were.
"As a portrait of recklessness and beastly terror, it's Citizen Kane." -Esquire
"Like watching a live-action Lion King as Mufasa holds a switchblade to your throat." -Complex
"It's like Walt Disney went insane and shot a snuff version of Swiss Family Robinson meets Abby." -JanePublicHitFix
'Roar' follows wildlife preservationist Hank (The Exorcist producer Noel Marshall in his sole and career-derailing turn as an actor and director), who lives harmoniously alongside a menagerie of over 100 untamed animals, including cheetahs, elephants, lions and tigers on a preservation in the African plains. When his wife and children arrive (real-life wife Tippi Hedren, The Birds, and step-daughter Melanie Griffith, Working Girl) for a visit, a long-brewing battle for dominance between the lions erupts and threatens their very lives. bye.

A sabotage level of despicability review.

Margot Robbie leaks.

A Margot Robbie leaked 'Harley Quinn' production still. Damn.
Bye.

zine-fest staple puncher.

So after hearing out all of those romantic zine writers rant about their dire love for creating and distributing zines using the staple and the paper, and having voiced your(meaning MY) opinion during one panel lecture yesterday regarding the ominous death warrant(assassination) placed against celluloid film by means of digital, and how film artists have been forced to opt for creating things usingg(sic) new technology tools…is there any difference between how a brain organizes and creates a blog vs a stapled zine?

A: Absolutley None. Except that I predict soon using paper will be criminalized by these same tree-hugging protesting hypocrites that are refusing to accept and adapt to change.

Moral of the problem: Create things as Malcolm X said (without using a rifle), 'By Any Means Necessary.'  Make things  because you must make. Do them, because you must do. Let nothing restrict your mind. Let nobody restrict your voice.

Summation:  Thanks for giving me some hope, Jane. That said,  let's all 'Keep Hope Alive.' Now, go outside and play.

ok. bye.

A Kodachrome Funeral Procession.

Very moving and heartfelt film. Kurt, and super 8mm Kodachrome film, are missed terribly by the time you leave the theatre. A double funeral procession.  bye.
