Praise the Lord with 100% certainty.

So I just saw the film, 'The Eyes Of Tammy Faye' at the movies and actress Jessica Chastain has cemented her career with this performance, 100%. She will be nominated for this performance of teleevangelist Tammy Faye Baker and deserves every last accolade that I expect her to get. The actual Tammy Faye (deceased in 2007 from colon cancer) was quite the eccentric colorful personality for sure, but Chastain manages somehow to complicate her televised persona by carving into what was buried underneath all of that ridiculous facial make-up that she wore - a very flawed and very kind human being. I learned so much about the rise and fall of that PTL (Praise The Lord) marital empire Tammy and Jim had created sitting through this great movie (they started with children puppet shows!). Thumbs up to all cast and crew involved in this movie, and even if Chastain doesn't win her Oscar or Golden Globe, she must take time to celebrate all of the nominations coming her way. This film was fair and sympathetic to the both Tammy and Jim, and I found more satire in the use of Diet Coke and Vicks vaporizer period-piece props than of the people themselves. My summary critique for this one- There's still some hope for humanity. bye.

Billie.

"Seeing a drummer perform live is always something a studio is incapable of properly duplicating ... because your listening with your ears, but also your eyes." - drummer Hal Blaine (R.I.P.)

These words spoken by Hal rang true to me when I experienced the live Billie Eilish show at this year's return of THE GOVERNORS BALL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2021at Citi Field Shea Stadium ! ...

Jobs about life.

What are the lessons people most often learn too late in life? Steve Jobs, Jobs's last words. He died a billionaire at 56 years old from pancreatic cancer, and here are his last words on a sick bed:

"I reached the peak of success in the business world. My life is the epitome of success in the opinion of others. But, I have nothing to be happy about except work. In the end, wealth is just a reality of life that I am used to. It was then, lying on a sick bed reminiscing my whole life, I realized all the recognition and the wealth that I was very proud of, became pale and meaningless in the face of the impending death. You can hire someone to drive for you and make money for you, but you can't make someone else take the illness from you. Lost substance can be found. But there is one thing that can never be found when lost -”life". When a person enters the operating room, he will find that there is a book that has not yet been read - ′′ The Healthy Living Book ". No matter what stage of life we are in right now, over time we will face the day when the curtain falls. Cherish the family that loves you, love your spouse, love your friends... be kind to yourself."

No more time limits on contemporary documentaries.

It is so interesting how the usual 90min - 2 hour documentary has so dramatically changed over the past few years due to streaming television channels, apps and YouTube. Now, a documentary can literally become an ongoing series filling in so many gaps of researched information that the average 90 minute feature film doc had time limited. That said, I do firmly believe that films are essentially 'stories' and a story should be limited and not go on forever like so many new shows and trendy cinematic stream series. I am not some big Guns and Roses fan, but the way this guy documented that rock band so intensely prior to their success is truly fascinating... a video podcast that doesn't just cover a band, but also documents and educates us about the dense history of Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills(with their own private police force that kept celebrity secrets from the L.A.P.D. force!), celebrity migrations, etc...

Enders and the Shit Detector.

https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/nytimes/name/howard-enders-obituary?pid=143894776

Howard Enders has been on my mind this Labor Day morning. He was my script writing professor and had taught me about the most important tool every writer must have during the writing process - The Shit Detector. He proclaimed always that the writer’s job is to make sure the ‘shit detector’ is on and working and that this would always insure that the piece is good and not just utter shit. One’s work has to pass the shit detector’s test first.

Howard was a real character. And, he’s missed on this Monday morning.

Alice aged 73 and still at it !

I remember seeing an Alice Cooper show as a young kid in 1986 for his return to the music industry (after a long break due psychiatric hospitalizations and near death addiction) with his 'Constrictor' 86 album/tour  and was forever blown away by the theatrics of that crazy concert and had NO idea what Alice Cooper was all about regarding live performance until that show. So, I felt compelled to see if he was as good as I had remembered as a kid, and he didn't disappoint. He's the real deal.

I seriously don't know how and where this guy gets the energy at 73 years old to do a two hour live show that was epic in scope and non-stop energy.

Video clips from the epic SOLD OUT show ...
