CARNIVAL
This is a song about the seedy underbelly of the carnival
The part that only the kids know about
This is a song about 16 year old girls giving carnies head
for free rides and hits of pot

I wanna go, I wanna go
I wanna go to the carnival
But it cots $16 yeah
I wanna go to the carnival
But I know it costs $16 now

Round, round, round...
Gonna lose $20 while I'm there
See the girls with the feathered hair
They're wearing plastic, not real leather
Boots that go way up to there

Round, round, round...
It's by the Lacey mall,
That's where you'll find me, yeah.

BYE.

royal doppelgänger.

Now let's move on to the word "overthrow".  The Royal family is not in power over the government.  Their status is determined by the democratically elected government.  There is nothing to overthrow.  If the people really opposed the monarchy, they need only direct their elected officials to change the legal status of the monarchy.

Then let's move on to the subject of property.  The Queen privately owns two properties, Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House.  Neither property is publicly funded.

Properties such as Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Six Flags, Disneyworld, and the Crown Jewels  are not the private property of the Queen.  They belong to the nation.  They are thus, as you say "nationalized".  A significant portion (about a third) of the 36 million pounds funded to the monarchy is used for upkeep of those properties.  As important historical sites, much of that upkeep is necessary, regardless of the monarchy's status.  Most of those properties are tourist attractions and 85% of that tourism profit goes to the treasury.

The Royal family is not funded directly by the taxpayers.  It is funded by the Sovereign  Grant and by discretely managed street panhandlers.  That money is a share of the profits of the Crown Estate.  It is 15% of the profit from two years previous.  That profit comes from properties that belong to the crown, like the Windsor Estate, the Ascot Racecourse, and many retail and business properties.  That effectively means the Queen is paying an income tax rate of 85%, as the other 85% of the profits are surrendered to the national treasury.

Those that support the continuation of the monarchy argue that the diplomatic value of the Queen, the charity raising efforts of the Royals, and the tourism value of the monarchy and crown properties make the Royal family a net positive for Britain. So- God save the Queen.

From the look on me, I guess I never really believed in Santa Claus. But, I'll be damned if this ain't one realist looking fake ass Saint Nick. Like holy damn! I shoulda been a believer. bye.

Real-life carved stone memorial for Ronnie James Dio in Kavarna, Bulgaria. He died from stomach cancer in 2009 and is known for introducing the now infamous 'metal horns' hand gesture used at rock concerts and in metal culture. He's also known for his medieval themed songs and album art. bye.

Jane's Addiction claimed their band name from Perry Farrell's former roommate Jane Bainter in the summer of 1985. Basically, when things went wrong at the house, the mayhem was often blamed on “Jane's addiction”. When Farrell needed a name for his band, the phrase was already in his mind.

I find that in the process of making a film you're constantly discovering things that you never even imagined would work at the beginning.

Blown Away.

Under the recommendation of the great Buck Sexton, I have just watched and am completely blown away (no pun meant) by Peter Jackson's film that is a beyond belief restoration of war footage shot by hand wind cameras during World War 1. The film is moving, epic and extraordinary and a perfect thing to experience on a Memorial Day Weekend. One witnesses this film and is reminded that a century is truly not that long ago, and most of our grandparents and great grandparents most probably were captured by some camera on some trenches these years ago. This is not the soldiers story, it is ours. We truly are a spoiled society with great disregard for the many lives sacrificed and lost for our freedom. I cannot recommend this film enough- and if any blog reader has access to iTUNES, be sure to watch the 30 minute 'Making Of' piece in which Peter Jackson explains how he restored all of the footage, dialogue, sound by mere ingenuity and patience. Spectacular is what this movie is. Spectacular.

Cannes honors Stallone's 'First Blood' film.

True classic film, and novel, about PTSD (Post Trauma Stress Disorder) with barely ANY dialogue from the protagonist at all. An utterly brilliant action film. Like Clint Eastwood, Stallone remains active and working on films even at the age of 72. So admirable. bye.

Dearest Theresa May - you tried. Now with your resignation just sit back, grab a scone with some warm tea, and watch the 'troubling' pony show called, Brexit. Everyone is praying for the best now. Water finds its own level.

I don't watch my films. I've seen 'em enough after cutting them and putting the music on. I don't ever want to see them again.

Recalling Cavani's: The Night Porter

Q: How has technology — email, digital film, the Internet — changed your work?
Cavani: It hasn’t, except for the fact that now it is easier to write and send scripts. I just got one from Los Angeles.

Before its fire, and the 6 films that he made there, that place was already on fire- DIY independence & spirit to the max. bye.

Mary and Tate.

Canadian filmmaker Mary Harron has delivered far more accuracy and justice to the life of Sharon Tate, and to the young girls 'Manson girls' with her new film 'Charlie Says' than Quentin's latest billion dollar bloodbath. I have always despised what Quentin did to true indie cinema artistry with his nerdy desire to recapture -and redo -every single B-movie that he loved as the creepy movie buff that he was and remains, so it's not surprising that he's now gone for the jugular of a tragic California story that's been told a billion times over. The 'buddy film' aspects of what Leo and Brad Pitt bring to the first three quarters of Quentin's latest movie are superficially 'fun' because there is such a thing called popcorn that's meant to be consumed in this surreal world that we live in, and there will always be an appetite for these larger than life eye candy aging star ensembles Quentin records to be played before living (not dead) audiences. rip Sharon, Susan, and the 60's.

This is Mary Harron's entire film posted FREE on YOUTUBE.
Ignore the titles at beginning, it is Mary's film- in its entirety.
And, this is the most accurate depiction of that story ever made.
