Howard Enders has been on my mind this Labor Day morning. He was my script writing professor and had taught me about the most important tool every writer must have during the writing process - The Shit Detector. He proclaimed always that the writer’s job is to make sure the ‘shit detector’ is on and working and that this would always insure that the piece is good and not just utter shit. One’s work has to pass the shit detector’s test first.
Howard was a real character. And, he’s missed on this Monday morning.
