So I went and saw the new Sean Baker film 'Red Rocket' and have concluded that Baker is not a great filmmaker at all, and all that he does over and over again is re-interpret his boring idea of what 'poor white trash' America feels like to him, inside of his head while he sleeps on the couch of his parents home saving money for his next movie. He packages these things (his movies) into a clever marketing perfume that seduces our longing for the now extinct 90's independent 16mm cinema that Tarantino gleefully murdered back when he cast John Travolta in Pulp Fiction.
'Red Rocket' on a Jane grade scale of 1-10, gets a 4. That's a failing grade. bye.
