I just learned that John Hughes wrote ‘National Lampoons Vacation’ screenplay starring Chevy Chase. That screenplay is what gave him the leverage to direct ‘The Breakfast Club’ (originally called ‘Detention’). Wild. And he then wrote ‘Sixteen Candles’ in one single weekend sitting at his computer. Insane talent. Amazing. Very gifted person.
