The Innocents. Now playing.

This was not the greatest film in the world, but was one of the strongest WW2 stories to be told in a very long time. The film is shot with very 90's indie arthouse cinema style and an emphasis on characters pushing their fact-based script forward with a reliance on the 'based on true events' thing it has going for itself. I left the film feeling that it just goes to prove that in war there are no real victors or winners, suffering and aggression is what it's all about. The Russians enter Poland to remove the Nazi Germans, and then damage the soul of Poland with just the same blind evil ruthlessness. The film shows that love for others prevails amongst all things, and shows that a relationship between an atheist and a believer can be just as beautiful and Holy as any other thing. Screw it, I give the movie a Thumbs Up -  Glory, Glory.   bye
