A JANE LETTER, FROM DORKy DON
Hi or Dear JANE...
I thought you'd laugh about how weird things can be.
I got an email from a writer with the Discovery Channel(sure u did)
It was an offer to pay me a license fee of $200 so they can
use one of my videos for a Thanksgiving show titled
"When Turkeys Attack".
My clip is on Youtube (or Netflix).
I fired back a strong reply that I've been shooting down
fakers, scammers and liars for 40 years.
Besides there's no way my video is worth $200.
It looks too crappy... certainly no good for TV.
I said, "You claim to be with the Discovery channel
in Hollywood but you give me a 917 number... you must be
a Nigerian just arrived in NYC and picked up a throw away
cell phone. (917 is NYC mobile)"
I really went off on the guy. I emailed him, "I want the name of
your alleged boss at DC and I will be calling the publicly listed number
for DC at their Hollywood location and let them tell me your a fake."
Surprise!! I called the executive producer of the show and it's all real!!
It turns out the guy just moved to LA and is keeping his cell tied
to his 917 number. I apologized for going negative on him but I'll
always be a suspicious NYer. JAne, He likes my vintage photos and he
might use me to repair some of his family photos that were damaged
in hurricane Sandy.I know that if anybody understands that kinda nightmare that it would be you.
So they sent me a contract and I already returned it. He said they
only wanted amateur looking vids, so the quality is just right.
I added a second video taken the same day for free since I felt bad
for bad mouthing him. We both agreed only a NYer would trash
an offer from Hollywood.
