Film journals, Emily and gas ration picnics?

Jane Public, with a very magnificent of heart of gold, organized an enormous community picnic fundraiser on some remote sidewalk in NYC with a wired trashcan that included sugar cookies, roasted BBQ ribs, grilled trolls, gobbled up half-eaten Piggies in a Blanket, snapping turtles a la mode (one scoop per gallon of gas not pumped) and burned up charcoal in a humanoid-tarian effort to give back to the local people sitting on the long gasoline lines backing up traffic after Sandy's wrath. p.s. gotta love those 70's sunglasses. The future is bright, ya gotta wear shades.

p.s.s. Emily Dickinson's homestead is approaching its 10th anniversary. A place of avant-garde heritage, creative energy, contribution, profusion of vibrant letters, and most importantly an area of historical extreme quiet existence...

bye emily. again.

p.s. Anna makes ya just wanna just brush yo hair to the side and boogie-woogie. ..

bye (Heath).  You're gone but not forgotten.

CHARACTER's QUOTE:  "Oh, you. You just couldn't let me go, could you? This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You truly are incorruptible, aren't you? You won't kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness. And I won't kill you because you're just too much fun. I think you and I are destined to do this forever."

Haneke's new film AMOUR (Love) release date: December

- the burden of solicitude foisted on caregivers
- Godard averred that "every film is a documentary of its actors"
-"You're a monster sometimes, but very kind," Anne tells her husband

A must see. Haneke is brilliant.

Soundscape design captured from hurricane winds

Janey says that sound Should, Can, and Will continue to to be presented in galleries, museums, and other audio installation places in which sound design is addressed as a medium per se. Music, like drama, sets up a series of conflicts and resolutions, either on a larger or small scale. But what about other sound recorded instances? While it may be true that we gather the majority of our information visually, and that we are more responsive to visual than aural stimuli, as light is faster than sound, it's equally true (duh) that no one is comfortable with silence any more than they're comfortable with darkness. "Aren't you still afraid of the dark?"... then Jane asked itself,  ... "and what about the wind?"...and no single thing blew one single answer... except for a pleasantly loud girl named Sandy. And honestly, she was just a bitch.

stay tuned for more. and yes, this is a Jane Public  work. in. progress.
bye (for now). but before you go here is a congressional footnote //

Dear sweet caring Janey Public friend:
Hurricane Sandy has taken a severe toll on New York – in lives, livelihoods, and property. As our communities begin the long process of recovering and rebuilding following this natural disaster, now is the time for New Yorkers to rally together as we have previously when facing adversity. I know we can and will recover and rebuild stronger than ever.

I am touring affected areas of Westchester County with local officials and meeting with residents, creative persons and business owners. It is clear the needs facing our communities are significant:

·    Restoring electricity for artists is a top priority for areas that remain in the dark. That is why I have been pushing Con Edison to expedite restoration of power to homes and businesses in our region. Although the storm was severe, there was plenty of advance warning and opportunity to bring in extra crews. I am pleased Governor Cuomo intends to consider utilities’ storm response when determining their regulation and licensing. If your power is out, be sure your power company knows by calling Con Ed at 1-800-75-CON-ED.

·    I called on FEMA to issue a major disaster declaration (MDD) that includes Westchester County so we will be eligible for federal Public Assistance and Individual Assistance. This is critical so New Yorkers do not foot the entire bill for recovering from this natural disaster. FEMA has a team on the ground today in Westchester County, and I am on top of ensuring they recognize our communities need federal assistance and sound projects.

For other questions about emergency response, cinema equipment rescue and recovery, please call 211.

Sincerely,
Jane Lowey
Member of Congress, Jane Public ultra-fanatic.

Screening at MIT Visual Arts Center

Daria Martin, Soft Materials (2004) Soft Materials was shot in the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the University of Zurich where scientists research 'embodied artificial intelligence'. The film introduces a group of robots to two performers, their bodies mimicking responding, and touching. Daria Martin,

Sensorium Tests (2012), 16mm, (10 min) In Sensorium Tests, Martin uses staged scenarios based on an experiment into the neurological condition called 'mirror-touch synesthesia' People with this condition experience a physical sense of touch on their own bodies when they see other people, or sometimes even objects being touched. The film explores how sensations might be created and shared between people and objects.

Terry Fox, The Children's Tapes (1974), DVD, (30 min) In a classic early video work, Terry Fox constructs a series of elementary experiments that illustrate fundamental principles of physical science: A piece of fruit is placed under a tin lid held up by a single match, as an unsuspecting fly approaches the bait; a spoon, balanced on a fork, holds a piece of ice until the melting water topples it; a candle in a pan of water is extinguished when a pot is placed over it.

Through the work of artists spanning from the 19th to the 21st centuries, the List Center's current exhibition In the Holocene proposes that art acts as an investigative and experimental form of inquiry, addressing or amending what is explained through traditional scientific or mathematical means. TTFN.

Gerda Taro tribute minus Proposition 37

Gerda Taro (real name Gerta Pohorylle; 1 August 1910 - 26 July 1937) became a war photographer, and the companion and professional partner of photographer Robert Capa. Taro is regarded often as the first female photojournalist to cover the front lines of a war and to die while doing so.

During her coverage of the Republican army retreat, Taro hopped onto the footboard of a car that was carrying wounded soldiers when a Republican tank collided into its side. Taro suffered critical wounds and died the next day, July 26, 1937.  bye.

What is moving to me is the truthfulness and the devotion of individual people. - Romulus Linney

The Basement Tapes of Sigríður Níelsdóttir

https://vimeo.com/34582312

p.s. Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, centre, and Maria Alyokhina have been sent to "cruel" Russian prison camps to live out their sentences.

The range and diversity of Warhol's cinema (NOT his pop art ) stands on its own for its contributions to social and political significance. There is always an impassioned (though low-key) plea to experience these movies as they are best seen: in a darkened theatre, on 16m-mm film, projected at the proper speed, in their full duration, and among an audience, however small.
