Today I learned that actor/SNL comedian Bill Murray was only cast in GHOSTBUSTERS because an immediate replacement was needed for actor/SNL comedian John Belushi who had died unexpectedly of a drug overdose. Not sure who would have been a better Dr. Venkman. It’s so weird to consider, because they both appear to be so perfectly cast for the part of Venkman despite both actors being so different in so many ways.
