‘American Captives’ stageplay is inspired by street theatre work created/invented by director Jane Public/Joey Huertas and performance artist Connie Winston (On Griffin Alley). The creative work uses transcript materials, actual historical documents and contemporary US penal statistics from two controversially disputed cases involving the deaths of Lena Baker and Sandra Bland.
