It's truly been awhile since a film has been able to have an immediate and profound effect on me. I see a lot of films, but this newly transferred release of the short black and white 16mm film document, 'Faces of November' was a hard watch today for me. It's a simple 12 minute visual film document of JFK's funeral in Washington D.C., capturing the faces of the people there to say goodbye to the man, and that surreal moment of our country's history. His family, his political colleagues (friends and foes), the public. To think that a president of the United States could get assassinated in such a very public way is profoundly sad. And sickening. If there was ever a bipartisan moment for reflection, it's the one captured here- with no music or dialogue. See, 'Faces of November' before the next Presidential election if you can. It's available now online to stream. It begins, and it ends, with the blasting sounds of military honor gunshots. Bye.
