'Where have all the flowers gone?'

Pete Seeger at Carnegie Hall with the Woody Guthrie Family! Arlo (Woody's son, duh) led the night of songs of protest against social injustice while inserting his halarious satirical style of sardonic talking blues. The whole show was custom built for our modern times. Every politician (and every post 60's contemporary war veteran) shoulda been here tonight. And they shoulda been handed a copy of the new book written by MIT professor Craig Steven Wilder, "Ebony and Ivy" (purchasing link: http://www.amazon.com/Ebony-Ivy-Troubled-Americas-Universities/dp/1596916818/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385926063&sr=8-1&keywords=ebony+and+ivy)  and united to boycott William And Mary College based on its despicable and disgusting history once and for all. Peaceful protests based on facts, history and data statistics for all.  bye!

'Beware of Mr. Baker' playing now in theaters and VOD

'If a plane went down and there was one survivor, it would be Ginger,' says drummer Ginger Baker's 1st wife, Elizabeth Ann Baker. 'The devil takes care of his own.'

See this film and be reminded that all drummers are 'one of a kind.' Jane loves you Ginger! And is so glad that you got a movie out there that's got you all ready to start trouble with. Keep going on and keep playing drums and breakin' Yankee noses. Stop for no one. May they all 'go to hell in a hand basket.' Lol. I'm gonna go order a pizza now. Bye.

P.S. once a drummer, always a drummer. There ain't no bullshit there. bye again.

Jobs before dying and Nielsen's report.

Steve Jobs. Days before his death.

One can only wonder now how trouble maker Stevie Jobs would respond to the growing controversy regarding VOD (VIDEO ON DEMAND) and the potential death threat it poses to the common neighborhood theatrical release experience of a movie. Mainstream exhibitors refuse to carry films that premiere day-and-date, saying that there is a direct hit on theatrical exhibition when movies play day-and-date. As indie and avant-garde film distribution methods lose their stigma, they're becoming standard for many small films. Depending on who you ask, VOD is either the salvation -- or the death -- of independent film.Of course, the Netflix model, where consumers pay a flat rate upfront, is quite different than video on demand, or from renting or buying a film from a digital store such as iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Fandor, Hulu, or from sites such as Crackle. It's unlikely that Hollywood studios and theater owners will ever agree to having films stream day-and-date on Netflix or on VOD: By all appearances, it would destroy their business model. Mainstream exhibitors refuse to carry films that premiere day-and-date, saying that there is a direct hit on theatrical exhibition when movies play day-and-date.

"...but if audiences can watch a new release at home, why go to the local theater? So expensive, the popcorn and soda combo price is over $11 bucks now," Jane flustered?

"Since the introduction of television, people have been declaring the death of cinema, but so far, nobody has been able to replicate the immersive, communal theater going experience at home. Not every great movie is going to necessarily get to Cleveland," thought Jane, and "there are quite a few consumers (my ugly word) who like to be the first ones to see movies fresh off their festival debut. VOD provides a potential audience of 100 million in North America alone." The fact is that despite fears that day-and-date will kill movie going, there's no data to prove that day-and-date is eating into theater grosses (although theater owners say they can see the evidence in box office receipts over the past eight years or so).

Set-top boxes with on-demand viewing capabilities are now in about 60% of U.S. households, up from 37% in 2008, according to a recent report from Nielsen. Overall, about 102.7 million homes had pay-TV service from a cable, satellite or telephone company in the second quarter of 2013, according to Nielsen's Viewing on Demand report. Of course, the less of a stigma there is surrounding a VOD or day-and-date release, the more VOD releases we'll see -- especially as fewer small films have a shot at theatrical distribution -- which means there's already a glut of VOD releases vying for attention.

"So is VOD the future for indies?," asked Steve Jobs plugged into (and power charging from) his unmarked grave. "Only time will tell," shouted Jane. "Now please go back and rest. Go to sleep, you're dead! Haven't you caused enough trouble already? Leave cinema alone! bye."
The END .  Of local theatres. for sure.

p.s. "BTW, I didn't watch your movie JOBS on VOD, Stevie Wonder. I watched a bootleg-blurry DVD copy of it. For free. tee-hee hardy har har. Yeah. I do love the future of Hollywood schlock. Now I own you, too."

The END .  Of this blog entry. for sure.

FILM SCREENING 'Microcinema' Q and A

“The concept is that the cinema is basically something that can be constituted in the moment,” Mr. Halter said. “It’s a venue that’s taken up and put down, so the cinema is literally built anew every week.”

The sky is low, the clouds are mean,
A travelling flake of snow across a barn
or through a rut debates if it will go.

A narrow wind complains all day how some one treated him;
Nature, like us, is sometimes caught without her diadem.

Old Sparky's early stage of childhood development

 Old Sparky's early stage of Avant-Garde childhood development:
In 1881, the state of New York established a committee to determine a new, more humane method of execution to replace hanging. Alfred Southwick, a member of the committee, developed the idea of running electric current through a condemned woman after hearing a case of how relatively painlessly and quickly a drunk man died due to touching exposed power lines.

The first electric chair was produced by Harold Brown and Arthur Kennelly. Brown worked as an employee of Thomas Edison, hired for the purpose of researching electrocution and developing the electric chair. Jane Public applied for the job, but didn't have the "seniority" needed for this epic state-financed Union gig. SonsofBit$^es!!

As fate would have it, alas: Ms. Baker :)

ON GRIFFIN ALLEY- dress rehearsals

Baker character's internalization & discovery of circumstances:
video

Lena Baker/Connie Winston monologue stills:

Death sentences and executions for female offenders are rare in comparison to such events for male offenders.  Stats for women and the death penalty in the U.S. -
* women account for about 1 in 10 (10%) murder arrests;
* women account for 1 in 50 (2.1%) death sentences imposed at the trial level;
* women account for 1 in 67 (1.8%) persons presently on death row; and
* women account for 1 in 100 (.9%) persons actually executed in the modern era.

Lena Baker was executed by electrocution in 1945 with no proper burial.

VHS Analog Film Preservation Meet 2013 .. .

VHS Analog Preservation Society meeting .. .

VHS archives owe a duty of respect to the original VHS materials in their care for as long as those materials remain viable. When circumstances require that new materials be substituted for the originals, archives will retain a duty of respect to the format of those originals. "But do we have ethics?" -Jane questioned.

"Yes" - it replied.

CODE OF ETHICS: VHS archives and film archivists are the guardians of the world's moving image heritage. It is their responsibility to protect that heritage and to pass it on to posterity in the best possible condition and as the truest possible representation of the work of its creators.

VHS archives owe a duty of respect to the original materials in their care for as long as those materials remain viable and not crushed or coffee stained. When circumstances require that new VHS materials be substituted for the originals, VHS archives will retain a duty of respect to the format of those originals and ask Jane's public for further assistance. KAUFMAN AND POPCORN AS NATIONAL ILLNESS GREASY EPIDEMIC

Andy Kaufman may be alive. He who laughs last, laughs best. Andy is cracking up in his grave with this well organized prank that he clearly arranged 30 years ago. Too good. I'm gonna eat a bag of stale popcorn at a closed movie theatre and contemplate your passing -as metaphor. Bye Andy. Love you, my brother.
